In the Academy of Music in CracovIn during third week of November 2013, there was shown a replica of the instrument invented in the fifteenth century by Leonardo da Vinci. It was built by a Polish musician. This instrument looks like a piano, but sounds like a violin.Combination of violin and piano, which is an original invention of Leonardo da Vinci, was designed by a Polish musician from Cracov, Slawomir Zubrzycki. It is called “Viola organist”.
This is a keyboard instrument. Instead of hammers striking the strings of the piano, sound is created by bows. Pole created a replica of the instrument basing on the da Vinci’s drawings. It took him a total of 5,000 hours. The current value of construction is about 6000 pounds.
